Missions

Luke 24:14 states, "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations..."
Highbridge Community Church supports various missions each year believing that all Christians are called to minister unto people all over the world beyond our own community so that in all parts of the earth, the true Gospel of Jesus Christ will be heard. From large year long missions to smaller ones even within our own country, HCC celebrates every mission that brings glory to God's name and shows the world the goodness of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Deacon Eno Akpan has been serving a mission in Nigeria for the past two years. Through God's grace, the construction of a well for water, a library in a village, as well as the renovation of an old Christian church in the same village, Ikot Okoro. Because of God's grace and goodness, she has come back both summers with news of success of gratefulness sent from the people affected by these projects

Here is a snapshot of some of the work she has been doing-

During the summer of 2009, Youth Ministry Leader Sandra Taitt embarked on a mission to Ethiopia. Connected with a program called Serving in Mission (SIM), she traveled to Ethiopia where she worked and fellowshipped with women that risk falling into prostitution due to homelessness, poverty, abuse, and other factors. These young women are sheltered in theDeborah House Shelter, and join the community's church in worshipping God as well. Sister Sandra also helped organize Vacation Bible School at the Joy Center for small children. From this mission experience, she often states that she gained much more that summer than anything she could have given the women and children she fellowshipped with simply because they saw that they lived the message of 1 Thessalonians 1:6:

"[They] became imitators of us and of the Lord; in spite of severe suffering, you welcomed the message with the joy given by the Holy Spirit."
