by Blanca Young on November 30th, 2009
33 years ago, there was much celebration
For there was born a King who would rule the whole nation
In heaven there was singing and dancing in elation
The Wise Men came bearing gifts in awe and adoration
As a young boy, He spoke to many as a teacher
It was obvious that this man was a great preacher
Wherever He stopped to speak, people listened
And the feature?
Was God His Father who created each and every creature
Whenever He spoke, people could not help feeling that there was something special about the words they were hearing
He spoke straight and simple so they would get the meaning
To show His Father's power
He went about healing
His name was Jesus and the people did love Him
So much that they'd leave all and follow on a whim
His aim was to fill us all with love and grace to the brim
However, the story that follows turns quite grim
It seems to be difficult to everyone satisfy
I'm sure this is something to which both you and I can testify
The same people that with words Jesus did pacify
Stood up and screamed at the top of their lungs, 'CRUCIFY! '
Last week, they waved and fanned Him with palms
They sang, hailed, and praised Him with psalms
Today to betray Him causes NO qualms
And they give a care who this body embalms
But Jesus knew that this was His fate
And for salvation the world could not wait
His death would surely the prophecies state
And become the greatest feat in history to date
He knew His friend Judas would commit the betrayal
Which would bring Roman soldiers hot on His trail
And then to a cross He would cruelly be nailed
But His Father, brothers, and children He must not fail
His death was valuable for it woudl pay for the sin
Of our ancestors as well as ours and those of our kin
Think of the pain and suffering that He felt within
Yet He sacrificed His life so that slavation we could win
Now I ask you, so in vain was not His sacrifice
That you listen, meditate and allow Christ to your heart enter
May His offering of His life on the cross suffice
So that love, forgiveness and Godliness we may EXERCISE
